Booth concept

As the ampersand (&) in the gallery’s name indicates, ROCKELMANN& pursues a practice that is based on cooperation with external professionals. Curators from various backgrounds are invited to contribute to the gallery’s program – a concept that will also be brought to the booth at PULSE Miami Beach. The freelance curator Michaela Richter, an art historian educated in the field of aesthetics as well as cultural and media sciences, was chosen to conceive the presentation of ROCKELMANN& at PULSE Miami Beach. Based upon experiences stemming from a previous exhibition that she curated at the gallery, her focus for the booth concept is on presenting two bodies of work, by Florian Japp and Jeffrey Teuton, in a way that demonstrates the similar and contrasting features of the artistic approaches, in order to point out both complementary and unique aspects in the positions’ observations. Both artist’s work is based on conceptual but also personal observations of everyday life impressions, leading to abstracted sensual interpretations. The presentation on site at PULSE will be worked out in close interaction with the artists–in order to strengthen and convey a dialog between the mind-sets behind the bodies of works that will be shown.
